egistration for the ISCB Africa ASBCB 2011 Conference on Bioinformatics is now open. The conference takes placeĀ  9 - 11 March, 2011 at the Cape Town International Convention Center in Cape Town, South Africa. Visit www.iscb.org/iscbafrica11-register to see the many special offers, registration price schedules, workshop offerings, and the option to participate in a Young Researchers Forum.

This 2nd joint effort between ISCB and ASBCB to bring a high quality conference to the region has tremendous potential to exceed all expectations. Sydney Brenner has accepted our invitation to open the conference. Highly accomplished keynote speakers are confirmed, with more to be announced soon. The submitted abstracts for papers and posters are now under review, and a late call for posters will open within another couple of weeks.

This conference overlaps on 9th March with the Joint International Conference of the African and Southern African Societies of Human Genetics meeting that takes place at the same venue from 6 - 9 March. We are planning an interesting shared parallel session with those organizers, and all who register for both meetings are entitled to 10% off the registration fees of each event.

Sightseeing tours are also being offered, with the first one available for sign up now. If attending an ISCB conference on the African continent is of interest to you, please visit the conference website at www.iscb.org/iscbafrica2011 now, and begin making your plans to attend starting with conference registration.
